5 universities, 12 teams, 48 hours of coding with IoT-Ignite and Android Things™
Middle East Technical University hosted their first IoT hackathon in Northern Cyprus on 18-19 March 2017. 12 teams from 5 universities worked hard on their coding to find elegant digital solutions to everyday problems. IoT-Ignite sponsored the event with IoT platform assistance and technical mentoring during the 3-day hackathon.
Along with the IoT-Ignite platform for Makers, we provided a brief training session and one-on-one coding support with 10 engineers throughout the event.
Teams turned their ideas to prototypes on the IoT-Ignite platform using Android Things™ on open hardware Raspberry Pi 3. Creative solutions using IoT with Android were explored and implemented.
6 of 12 teams would come up with a product; Team Swamp got the first prize with their smart recycle system, while Team Acci-Tel was the runner-up with an emergency dispatch system that senses traffic accidents. Team Tank Manager got the third prize for their smart water tank systems.
